The National Union of Public Service and Allied workers (NUPSAW) is a union established in August 1998 in terms of the Labor Relations Act, 1995. Our scope of operation is in both the Public Service and Private Sector in the entire RSA with our Head Office situated at Success Mataitsane House, 17 Iris Street, Heatherdale, Akasia, Pretoria 0182. NUPSAW is admitted to the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) and to major sectoral bargaining councils in the Public Service. Our primary objective is to promote and protect the interest of our members, i.e. Workers First.


                  Administrative Clerk- (Membership) Based in Cape Town   
SALARY: R130 987,20 per annum, plus housing allowance, 13th cheque, voluntary medical aid, compulsory pension fund scheme

Purpose of Position:

  • To render effective and efficient administrative functions of the provincial office.

Inherit Requirements:

  • Grade 12 and NQF level 5 qualification in Admin or equivalent qualifications.
  • Two 2 to Three 3 years relevant experience in the field.
  • Flexibility to work irregular and unfixed hours. 


  • High level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Be a self-motivated team-player who is able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask, plan and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Computer literate with report writing skills.


  • Receive and process the membership application forms and compile reports thereof.
  • Receive and process cancellations, and compile reports thereof.
  • Receive and process the funeral claims and compile a report thereof. 
  • Maintain an efficient filing system to ensure easy recovery of documents.
  • Compile and submit monthly, cancellations and staff recruitment reports.
  • Do membership reconciliation and attend to discrepancies, and check whether deductions for the previously month have been captured and reinstated
  • Type and respond to any query related to membership, cancellation and funeral scheme claims.
  • Generally, doing such things are deemed to be in the best interest of the workers as may be deemed by the Provincial Office Manager.
