Our scope of operation is in both the Public Service and Private Sector in the entire RSA, with our Head Office situated at SUCCESS MATAITSANE House, 17 Iris Street, Heatherdale, Akasia, Pretoria, 0182. NUPSAW is admitted to the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) and to major sectoral bargaining councils in the Public Service.<br \/>\nOur primary objective is to promote and protect the interests of our members, i.e. Workers First.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\nVACANCY LEGAL OFFICER AT NUPSAW HEAD OFFICE (Pretoria)<br \/>\nSALARY: R392,880.00 P\/A, Plus Motor vehicle allowance, Housing allowance,<br \/>\nCompulsory Provident Fund and Voluntary Medical Aid<\/p>\n<p>MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION:<br \/>\nThe National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Legal Officer to provide legal support, dispute resolution services, collective bargaining support, and labour law advisory services to the union and its members. The successful candidate will play a critical role in protecting members\u2019 rights and ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Represent and assist Union members and Officials in complex labour issues.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Legal appearance at Labour Court and\/or relevant bargaining council forums<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Prepare and draft legal documents, submissions, grievances, appeals, and correspondence.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assist with collective bargaining processes and negotiations.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Interpret and apply labour legislation, collective agreements, and organisational policies.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assist and provide guidance to Provincial Organisers attending labour disputes in provinces<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Monitor legal risks and provide guidance on labour relations matters.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Facilitate training and awareness sessions on labour law and workplace rights.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Maintain accurate legal records and case management systems.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications, Skills and other requirements<br \/>\n\uf0b7 LLB Degree (This requirement is a must)<br \/>\n\uf0b7 An admitted attorney with the right of appearance in the Labour Court (This requirement is a must)<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Minimum of 3\u20135 years\u2019 experience in labour law and dispute resolution.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Experience within a union, bargaining council, or labour relations environment.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Sound knowledge of:<br \/>\no Labour Relations Act<br \/>\no Basic Conditions of Employment Act<br \/>\no Employment Equity Act<br \/>\no Trade union operations and collective bargaining processes<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Strong report writing, negotiation, and communication skills.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Ability to work independently and under pressure.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Valid driver\u2019s licence.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Own vehicle which is roadworthy and insured with mileage not more than 80 000km<\/p>\n<p>Competencies<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 High level of integrity and confidentiality.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Good organisational and administrative skills.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Be prepared to travel and attend to dispute resolution in provinces.<\/p>\n<p>How to Apply<br \/>\nApplicants should forward an application letter, a latest comprehensive CV, and certified copies of qualifications, ID document, and driver&#8217;s license to:<br \/>\nThe General Secretary, National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW),: generalsecretary@nupsaw.co.za, or fax same to 086 667 8362<\/p>\n<p>Applicants please note:<br \/>\n\uf0b7 NUPSAW reserves the right not to make the appointment.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 The interview process is guided by the principles and objectives of Employment Equity legislation.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 A Six (06) month probationary period will apply.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Only shortlisted candidates shall be invited for an interview.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 If you are not contacted within thirty (30) days of the closing date, kindly consider your application to be unsuccessful.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 NUPSAW will do criminal record and credit record checks before the appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Deadline for applications: 02 June 2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) is a union established in August 1998 in terms of the Labor Relations Act, 1995.
