\u201cUnions who have signed the salary agreement with Government have betrayed their members by not being honest with them. They are confusing first-time participants with new entrants in the Public Service\u201d, says NUPSAW Trade Union\u2019s General Secretary, Success Mataitsane.<\/p>\n
The agreement with clause 4.2 stipulating \u201cThe qualifying period for the first time participants will be extended from 12 to 24 months\u201d means that the following employees will now have to wait another 12 months before they receive their 1.5% pay progression:
\n\u2022 Those who are currently progressing to their new levels.
\n\u2022 Those who have been promoted to new levels during the past 11 months.
\n\u2022 Those who have joined the Public Service during the past 11 months.
\n\u2022 Those who will be promoted to the next level in the future.<\/p>\n
NUPSAW, therefore, rejects the current offer by Government because unlike other unions we were able to see that it does not make sense to sacrifice 12 months\u2019 pay progression which is 1.5% to gain 0.3% salary increase.<\/p>\n
