<\/p>\nMembers of the Trade Union NUPSAW are in the midst of a full-blown strike at the Head Office of the National Lotteries Commission (previously known as the Lottery Board) in Pretoria.<\/p>\n
The strike is the result of a salary dispute between Labour, namely NUPSAW and NEHAWU and the Employer.<\/p>\n
The initial demand for Labour for a salary increase was 12.5% while the initial offer of the Employer was 6%.<\/p>\n
Labour\u2019s final demand is 8.5% and the Employer\u2019s final offer is 7.5%.<\/p>\n
The two parties couldn\u2019t reach an agreement and were referred to the CCMA as a dispute of mutual interest.<\/p>\n
The parties could not resolve the issue on Monday, 13 August 2018, which led to the Commissioner issuing a certificate of non-resolution that gives unions the right to strike.<\/p>\n
On 15 August the unions gave the Employer notice to strike which had set off today. The strike will continue until the issue is resolved.<\/p>\n
