NUPSAW SETS IN MOTION COURT CHALLENGES AGAINST GOVERNMENT ON 0% SALARY INCREASE
The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) is strongly aware of the deep frustrations across the health and social care workers. This is unacceptable for the workers and their families for the local community from this government. It’s a slap in the face for the frontline heroes fighting the pandemic on the frontline to learn that they are not getting the promised salary increase.
NUPSAW has no option but to ensure that the government respects agreements that they have reached. We need an honest government not a bunch of dishonest lot who simply do not appreciate the rule of law.
The Government should not use the COVID19 as an excuse as they have made they intentions known to renege basically go back from the agreement during both the State of the Nation Address and the Budget Speech.
This agreement was entered into in terms of the Labour Relations Act, 1995 as amended. We expect all, including government to respect. For the government to make a one-sided decision is wrong. We are definitely taking the government to court after the lockdown.
Government is going after public servants because they are too afraid to go after the looting politician’s and big corporations who are still not paying their share.
Public Servants do an outstanding job supporting the delivery of public services across the country. This year’s salary increase will provide a greater cooperation for the public servants, balancing between rewarding their hard work while also ensuring good value.
This situation is very unstable and we have assessed all possible legal avenues to fight this, but we can assure the members that we will not stand for this action without fighting tooth and nail for fair treatment.
Yours in the Worker Liberation
