The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) in Mpumalanga will be marching to Government Complex in Mbombela on Thursday, 29 October 2021.
The Union is calling for the immediate absorption of Community Health-workers into permanent employment. We want the exploitation of CHW’s that has been perpetuated by the uncaring government must come to a screeching halt as a matter of urgency.
These workers have been carrying the health system on their back for years, but are treated unfairly. Some have been employed under such horrendous conditions for over a decade and remain on fixed contracts.
We demand the provincial health department to act now of face wrath of the workers.
We also demand workers in the Early Childhood Development sector to be absorbed by government. There is no justifiable reason for government to delegate its responsibility to NGO’s that abuse our members. They are overworked and yet spend months without being paid, at times. All of this ends now.
The NUPSAW’s provincial leadership will hand over a memorandum to the departments in questions and would demand a response within 14-days. Failure to do so would result in escalation of actions.
Members of the media and public are invited to join the demonstration.
