The matter on revised vote weights for the National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) in the Public Health and Social Development Sectoral Bargaining Council (PHSDSBC) was set on the 03 May 2019 before Commissioner Mohammed Rajah.  We objected to him presiding over the case since he was the one who presided over NEHAWU’s dispute of the same voting weight determination.

We were advised to consolidate our matter with the (Public Servants Associations) PSA dispute of vote weight determination since we referred the same dispute with the same merits. We agreed to the consolidation but will await their response since they had no mandate to do so.

Parties were directed to hold a pre-arbitration hearing seven days before the PSA sits for arbitration on 22 May. The Council will arrange such a pre-arbitration hearing.

“If there is no agreement on the consolidation on the NUPSAW matter and the PSA matter, the ruling will have to be made by the Commissioner on the way forward”, says Success Mataitsane, General Secretary, NUPSAW.
