The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) in Limpopo will be marching to the offices of the Provincial Health Department on Thursday, 21 October 2021.
The Union demands the exploitation of Community Health-workers to cease with immediate effect. The National Department made a commitment years ago to absorb them into permanent employment. But to date, many are still working under temporal contracts earning no more than R3500.
This is despite their work being categorised as essential. Many have worked for over 10-years under horrendous and inhumane conditions. They have no access to benefits such as medical aid, pension fund etc.
Other demands which will be unpacked in detail during the march include systemic corruption within the department.
The National Organiser Solly Malema will hand over a memorandum to the department and demand a response within 14-days. Failure to do so could result in the unfortunate collapse of the ailing health system.
Members of the media and public are invited to join the demonstration.
Details are as follows:
Date: Thursday, 21 October 2021
Time: 09:00
Venue: SABC Park, Polokwane
