Security officers and cleaners affiliated to the National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) employed by private companies within Gauteng Department of Health facilities will embark on a giant march on Wednesday, 02 February 2022.

The intention of the mass demonstration is to enforce the insourcing of security officers and cleaners. NUPSAW has taken note of hyenas that have been trying to hijack the insourcing project plan.

Our members are experiencing severe exploitation from private security companies and they often get paid way past their pay date. There are countless cases of unfair dismissals without any accountability. These greedy service providers have become a law unto themselves. However, despite these circumstances, our members still provide adequate and quality service delivery.

Cleaners in the Department of Health nursing colleges and Forensic Pathology Services (FPS) have been completely excluded from permanent absorption as is the case in other Hospitals. This unfair discrimination must come to an end with immediate effect.

Post 27 years into our democracy, we expect to be treated with dignity and respect. We expect the provision of a living wage to all ordinary particularly cleaners and security guards.
