The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers in Kwa-Zulu-Natal held a successful provincial congress this weekend in Durban.
Delegates from all regions assembled at the Tropicana hotel on Saturday to elect their provincial office bearers as the current term of office lapsed.
The Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) members were joined by the National office bearers and representatives from the South African Federation of Trade Union.
Delegates duly elected the following leaders to serve in the PEC in this term:
Chairperson: Sanele Ntombela
Deputy Chairperson: Tecla Nzimande
Secretary: Bheki Mkhulise
Deputy Secretary: Thobeka Cele
Treasurer: Nompilo Mchunu
The newly elected provincial chairperson in his brief acceptance speech, committed to serving members with diligence and ensure that the union’s bold ambitions and targets are met.
Ntombela thanked delegates from all regions who voted for them.
The National Executive Committee has tasked the incoming provincial office bearers with the responsibility of escalating the fight for the absorption of Community Healthcare Workers (CHW), Extended Public Works Programme and the Early Childhood development (ECD) staff. The NEC also urged provincial leaders to pay close attention to issues facing members in the Private sector.
